Matt Ide

Head Coach: Bantam Major 2010

Ide grew up in Providence Rhode Island playing for the Providence Hockey Club where he attended two National Development Camps. He went on to captain his high school team at LaSalle Academy, where he later attended school at the State University of New York at Geneseo. At Geneseo, Ide reached the NCAA Frozen Four for the 1st time in school history.

Post Geneseo, Matt began coaching hockey in College and hasn't stopped. He is now a full time skills coach as owner and operator of Powerstride Hockey.

Ide has been coaching for 30 years and currently coaches college hockey for the Oswego Lakers ACHA Division 1 team. Last year Matt led the Lakers to its best overall record (20-7-1) in program history. In the 2023-24 season the Lakers won the NECHL regular season conference for the 1st time in 19 years. Ide prides himself on sound defense, running the penalty-kill at 90+ efficiency in the previous two season.

Ide's love of coaching stems from an opportunity he had to both attend and work camps with the great Lou Lamoriello (GM NY Islanders). Matt considers Lamoriello one of, if not the greatest hockey minds in the game.
